Seaside, or how man appropriates the coastline.

Affleurements (2021) - In my photographic approach, I develop a sensitive approach to the world, an exploration through the senses, especially textures. After a first work taking as a framework the Camargue that we could call “Côté Mer”, I wanted to explore with “Affleurements” the land Camargue through meetings with breeders. In this mosaic, the animal textures are echoed in the folds and breaks of the salt landscapes of the Salin de Giraud quarries. The milky whiteness of the images gives the whole a common chromatic range.

SORERIE

My work with the sisters focuses on the place that each takes in the family structure. This miniature society in which they evolve is intimate, complex and even invasive. This territory they occupy and share is a fragile border that oscillates between love and intrusion. This very deep bond woven over time generates complicity and rivalry. I try to capture these emotions that run through them. I photograph these moments of sorories taken on the spot or staged. For this series I photographed the daughters of a friend, several times since 2015 in the house where they have lived since birth. This setting, located in the heart of nature, is an integral part of their daily lives. How do they behave with each other. How sometimes time stands still and nothing changes.

LES FANFARONS

My passion for the brass bands of the “bôzarts” dates back to my earliest childhood. I grew up in the family restaurant located in the heart of the Latin Quarter in Paris. I used to hide under the tables to attend the singing tours of the fine arts brass bands who came to play regularly for the pleasure of all in a very festive and good-natured atmosphere with a touch of ribaldness. I was fascinated by all this joyful mix of different socio-cultural classes that was found both among the public and among the fanfarists. Everyone was having fun in unison in this merry

Les Alternati

COLLECTIF LES ALTERNATI _ Aux confins du Delta

Alain GIRAUD    _   Sophie GIOTTI   _   Philippe GARCIN MARCON

Gilles THEODORE   _    Pascal BOUSQUET

The Rhône Delta, or Camargue Delta, has always been an incredible source of inspiration for the photographers of our collective, even before meeting, each of us walked the cross roads of this wild territory.
"You have to love solitude to be a photographer" said Raymond Depardon. Also, how not to be attracted by its great wilderness and the possibility offered to us, in the early morning, to sometimes travel hundreds of kilometers without meeting anyone, or if perhaps, a white horse, or a caravan, parked randomly on a road.
It is our Eldorado, a breath, a Delta that each of us crosses from side to side, alone or with others, without being able to get tired of its grazing light on the immense wetlands, constantly changing according to the time of day. the day or the season. An approach that is both poetic and timeless, reinforced by the use of old and alternative processes, the hallmark of our alternative photography collective, Les Alternati.
Charcoal prints, toned or painted cyanotypes printed on paper or glass, original polaroids, LOMographies, a varied panel of processes which offers us a formidable field of experimentation to reinterpret in 2021, with processes dating for some from the middle of the 19th century, our photographic wanderings on the borders of the Delta.

New York 4th Dimension (2016) -
The New York 4th dimension exhibition presents a series of photographs by Cecil KA produced in black & white film in 2016.
It evokes an experience that could be somewhere between fiction
and reality in a 4th dimension, in a world parallel to ours.
The action takes place in a place of passage that is a priori impersonal, common
to many metropolises.
Appears at the time of the feast of the dead, a heterogeneous fauna arises from nowhere.
The usually cold and transient space suddenly finds itself surveyed
by these strange creatures.
In a supernatural ballet, dead and alive, superheroes and anonymous rub shoulders. Carefully chosen by the photographer after several locations, the landscape
from the Jay Street subway station in Brooklyn, himself becomes a central character in the scenario.

Joseph Caprio- Stigmates

With this work, I wanted to pay homage to the great masters of Renaissance painting and to those paintings that impress me so much, and that can be admired in Italian churches, so numerous, so magnificent. Inspired by these atmospheres, I wanted to revisit these paintings with works on which the warm complexions of the characters have become veiled over time, often covered with a thin layer of soot deposited by the smoke of the candles. Centuries have passed and time has sometimes been cruel to them, inflicting injuries on the canvas, as evidenced by a few tears: simple abrasions, cracks, deep crevices...

Bartu Kaan ÖZDISCI

After my arrival in France, my first idea was to carry out a project in my country of origin. The fact of living far from my country, allowed me to have an outside look and to develop a sense of objectivity concerning it. In February 2020, I went back to Turkey and took some pictures. While I was working on these in France, the pandemic happened and forced me to reconsider my work. It took me some time to understand and accept that I could no longer work on my initial idea under these conditions. Eventually I decided to document this process while discovering new feelings such as homesickness, insecurity, feeling stuck. To overcome this feeling, I started experimenting with these elements and applying them in my project. For this, I filled the sleeping bag, inherited from my father, with the images of my last trip to Turkey, in order to create a sort of capsule for myself. As I wrote letters during the day, sleeping with the images of my loved ones allowed me to join them in another sphere.

With "The magic of salt", I propose a series covered over a period of 5 years. From October 2011 to December 2016, 50 flights over the Camargue and some 5 to 6,000 shots allowed me to refine my gaze, to purify it.
Salt is an inexhaustible mine. With a playground of 20,000 hectares, the salt tables of Aigues-Mortes and Salin-de-Giraud have not finished revealing their richness.
Salt is a world unto itself and its striking palette of colors changes day by day. These photos trace this strange metamorphosis over the seasons.
